Restoring the beautiful forest
The High Tatras mountains, which stand in the north of Slovakia, are full of nature - and as a symbol of the country, they are featured in the national anthem. However, the devastating natural disaster that occurred in 2004 destroyed 12,000 hectares of the forest. This disaster significantly damaged the ecosystem and affected the water cycle.
Brother Industries (Slovakia) s.r.o. joined up with a local NPO, “ZASAD STROM”, and started a planting project in order to restore the High Tatras mountains to their previous state.
Keeping nature prospering into the future
The purpose of these planting activities is to restore the beautiful nature of the High Tatras mountains and to hand it down. Along with the respective members of staff in Brother and ZASAD STROM, a lot of local people and staff from the national park also participate in this project. Furthermore, some of Brother's staff take part along with their families. The experience of planting trees encourages participants to appreciate nature and develop an awareness of the environment.
Through the activities of Brother Industries (Slovakia) s.r.o., a lot of people plant a lot of trees. Moreover, baby trees planted by ZASAD STROM are growing quickly, so the High Tatras mountains are slowly starting to return to their previous state. With the kind co-operation of so many people, we will continue to be involved in activities to enrich the local environment.
Voice of a local Brother employee
This project, the purpose of which is to restore the High Tatras mountains - a symbol of the country - is important not only for local people but also for us. It is deeply meaningful because we will get back the original state of the High Tatras mountains through the project, and will pass down to the next generation the knowledge of how to work with nature. Our purpose is to plant a lot of trees while strengthening both our relationship and our co-operation. It takes a lot of time for the result of these activities to become visible, but we will continue to work for the benefit of the next generation.
